Nothing makes me happier than to celebrate Eid with my children/NMT family: Somy Ali
1 min readFormer Bollywood actress and social worker Somy Ali, who runs her NGO No More Tears (NMT) in Florida, United States, says she is excited to celebrate the festival of Eid with the survivors that are under her care. The holy month of Ramadan came to an end, and Eid is being observed on April 11.
Somy said, “Nothing makes me happier than to celebrate Eid with my children/NMT family. Coming back to work is like coming home, and it’s the best feeling ever. Doing something meaningful and having a purpose is pivotal to our existence and a purpose outside of ourselves. That makes life worth living because it brings joy to all.”
She also shared that the festival brings back all the childhood memories, especially getting Eidi from elders.
“Eid is extremely important for me because it brings back all the happy memories I had as a child. The mehndi, the new clothes, the yummy food, and yes, the Eidi, which is the elders giving the children money,” she said.
“But another special addition for the past 17 years has been to celebrate Eid with all the survivors who celebrate it and give the children, who have been abused, Eidi as I am an elder to them,” she concluded.
