Here are the excerpts from our conversation with Hiten Kumar, where he spoke about his character and experience of being part of the movie ‘Vash.’
Hiten, in Vash, you play a crucial antagonist role. How did you approach developing your character for this film, and do you think the digital premiere of Vash on the OTT platform, ShemarooMe, will allow viewers to appreciate aspects of your performance that might have been overlooked in theaters?
In Vash, playing the antagonist was both challenging and thrilling. To develop my character, I delved deep into the psychology of what drives an evil minded person, aiming to find a balance between malevolence and vulnerability that viewers could relate to. I believe the OTT release of Vash on ShemarooMe will indeed provide an intimate viewing experience where subtle nuances of my performance are more likely to be noticed and appreciated. The digital format allows audiences to engage with the film at a pace that suits them with a repeat value, which can enhance their understanding and appreciation of the complexity of the characters, especially in a multi-layered story like ours.
Do you think the practice of Vashikaran still exists?
I have heard that many people still practice the art of Vashikaran. It’s a part of a very old tradition within certain cultures in India, where it is viewed not just as superstition but as an aspect of their spiritual or mystical beliefs and practices. While the belief in such practices varies widely, they continue to hold significance for many. In our film Vash, we explored this theme not to sensationalize it but to offer a window to comprehend these enduring traditions and provoke thought about the influences that shape our decisions and lives.
As Vash explores themes of the supernatural and psychological thrillers, what do you hope audiences will take away from the film?
In Vash, we delved into the supernatural and psychological depths that challenge our perceptions of reality. I am sure that audiences will continue to chatter about the film as they will not only be entertained but also reflective. The narrative pushes viewers to question what lies beyond the tangible and explore how deeply our beliefs can influence our actions. It’s a film that combines thrill with a thought-provoking storyline, aiming to linger in the minds of the viewers long after they’ve watched it. Specially, the climax of the movie Vash will leave the audiences stunned.
What were some of the biggest challenges you faced during the production of Vash, and how did overcoming those challenges help you grow as an actor?
During the production of Vash, one of the biggest challenges was embodying the complex nature of my character, especially given the intense emotional and psychological layers involved. Unlike some of my previous roles, this character required me to delve into the darker aspects of human nature, exploring themes of obsession, manipulation, and the consequences of unchecked desires. Balancing these elements while maintaining the authenticity of the character was a significant challenge, but one that I embraced with enthusiasm and dedication. Overcoming these obstacles required a deep dive into my capabilities and resilience, pushing me to explore new acting techniques and emotional depths. This experience not only honed my skills but also deeply enriched my understanding of character development and personal endurance in challenging roles.
Looking back at the making of Vash, what are some key takeaways or lessons you’ve learned from this project that you would carry forward to your future roles?
Reflecting on the making of Vash, I’ve gathered several invaluable lessons that will undoubtedly influence my future roles. First and foremost, embracing the complexity of my character taught me the importance of depth and versatility in acting. The experience also underscored the significance of collaboration and communication among cast and crew, which can truly elevate a performance. Additionally, tackling a genre like psychological thriller challenged me to explore new emotional territories and techniques. These insights have enriched my craft and will be vital tools in my acting repertoire going forward.
