Actor-writer Naman Tripathy, who made his on-screen debut with ‘Binny And Family’, spoke about his exciting journey into making short films. The actor-writer, who is a Quentin Tarantino fan, reflected on the challenges and setbacks he faced – from breaking the news to his parents to navigating the industry and finding the right people to team up.
Naman said he made his first two short films on an iPhone on a zero budget. “Making both the movies on a zero budget and an IPhone taught me so much about one’s hunger to just tell stories. With no budget, I did what us as Indians use the best to our advantage… and that is “Jugaad”! More importantly, when you don’t have a budget (which most short films don’t) you end up pushing yourself creatively to execute your vision despite the budget constraints… a skill that I was very fortunate to learn very early on in my career. I learnt how to have clarity in your thoughts and excellent foresight to know what you want your end product to be like. I feel extremely fortunate to be getting the chance to work on many different genres and mediums at this point because I just want to learn and then learn some more! I want to also not be afraid of making mistakes because those are what I have learnt the most from and used them to become a better artist,” he added.
On the professional front, Naman has co-written a biopic on chess grandmaster Viswanathan Anand titled ‘Tiger of Madras’. Directed by AL Vijay, this much-anticipated film is set to begin shooting in November and will be released in Tamil on a major OTT platform. He is also a writer and creator for one-minute episodic series ‘Bruh’, which will launch on a new app . With an exciting lineup of projects ahead, Naman promises to raise the bar of creativity and entertainment.
